Rubbish Clothing

UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's will be the first to sell new clothing made from their own recycled waste. Using packaging such as drink bottles, fruit, veg and meat trays they will produce a range of eco friendly shirts, trousers and skirts. They also aim to reduce transport miles by having the items made in Europe.

Clothing made from recycled materials is not new, Patagonia, for example have been successful with their own range, but this is the first time a major shop chain has taken the initiative. Makes you wonder why they need to put veg in trays in the first place, but at least this reuses some of the rubbish which exists because they insist on having their products packaged this way.

Look out for this new range in around 500 of the store’s outlets later this year.
