Eat your Plate

We have featured recyclable tableware previously on the EcoList, but are always looking out for new items and found these. Edible tableware by Rice-Design.

Created by Japanese designer Nobuhiko Arikawa for the Orto Cafe in Japan the pieces are made from hardtack, a biscuit dough made from flour, water and salt which was traditionally used as dry emergency rations at sea.

No news of them being commercially available but nice to know that someone helping to reduce the plastic plate pile!
