Guilty Dishwashing?

So, after the weekend’s Live Earth fest you are now feeling completely guilty about using a dishwasher – well don’t – it seems you are saving the planet.

Research at the University of Bonn has found that dishwasher use less energy (when compared to heating water using an average boiler) than washing all those pots by hand. This even takes into account the energy used to produce the dishwasher in the first place.

But don’t get too smug! You can make things even more eco friendly by only turning on the machine when it is full and stopping it just at the start of the ‘dry cycle’. Simple open the door, pull out the draws and let the air do the rest.
